Tesco Slade

There is no way on God's earth that Tesco would be interested in a tiny shop like Lawrence's. If the big T were interested, they'd want the whole parade of shops. Look at a small Tesco Metro and see how fruit & veg alone would swamp the Lawrence's DVD collection.

Sorry, but that must've been the local rumour mill going into overdrive.

Yes, I guess I should know how many awards. I spend enough time in my life gazing at those unbelievable awards while I wait in line to pay for 1 item, listening to the customer service bell being cranked.

I guess I mainly spend the time thinking, "award winning? must be award winning in the length of time per transaction or is it in making your customers feel like they have been taken hostage" then I must glaze over while I wait, and wait, and wait...to pay.

It is the Hotel California of supermarkets....."you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave."

The sloooowwwnesss of the Co-op makes me forget I'm in London, but truly in the depths of a remote village where time stands still. But remember Co-op is far better than Tesco! More ethical by far.

Tesco's would probably demolish the Links Building like they're going to knock down the Post Office in Gen. Gordon Square! More strength to Co-op's stacking arm!!

Yeah, shame it's one of the few buildings in Woolwich worth keeping. On the other hand though, Woolwich really doesn't function as it is and something big needs to be done, even if it does involve a large supermarket

It would be child's play for Tesco to meld the old tastefully with the new, as has been done at the Royal Arsenal.

Unfortunately, it would appear that supermarkets lack imagination. Listen to the apple grower on Radio 4's Food Programme, for instance. Navigate from here:

As for the PO in Woolwich - I am fuming (yet again) about parcel deliveries and am about to email "You and Yours" and "Watchdog". Hrrrumph!

How many of us are members of the Co-op via the Divi Card? Perhaps we should become more pro-active...?

Does anyone know what was going on at the petrol garage this afternoon - a fairly large group of people with dayglow waistcoats and a flashing camera?

Well. The latest intelligence is that Tescos and Sainsburys showed an interest, as did the Costcutter people next door. According to Bert Lawrence, he didn't want the other businesses in the row to be adversely affected profit-wise, and so has decided to accept a cheque from..... DRUM ROLL.....
