Happy Chinese New Year to everyone in The Shire, but I've just read about the Peninsula Restaurant in Charlton. They seem to have a hygiene record that could literally turn your stomach. Unfortunately, it's not the first time they've been caught out so I for one will be celebrating elsewhere.
I don't like to give negative news about a local business, but feel this could save people from praying to the porcelain alter all night long. And on that basis, I won't be investing in a meal there. I'm out [year of the dragon - ed.]

I still bow my head in shame when I think of how I took my mother in law to the Peninsula - one of the rare occasions when I didn't look up a place on Greenwich's food inspectors list. Never ever again.
Got a business idea for you - food tourism in the form of a person to go to an ethnic supermarket with you and explain all ingredients / best makes to go for etc. What do you think? Bit mad?
Happy New Year!
Dear PM,
I think your business concept has legs but fear for anyone who listens to my ingredient advice.

"Oh Heavens above!!!! My cup of fine dining PG Tips is sooooo salty!"
Actually, I think salty tea will go down well at The Fat Duck.
What do you eat on Chinese new year?
