The Links Co-Operative supermarket is going to close for about a week. This is to allow for an interior refit.
Black is the new white. Black has dominated the world of supermarket design and epitomises 'high-end'. We'll be able to enjoy a plush new shopping experience with new fixtures, lighting, checkouts and the longest champagne bar in Plumstead.
Here are some spy shots.
Not of Co Op, but the iconic Dean & Deluca. Oh well. Dream on.

Hello Dr,
Several years ago, a study was done by one of the large Estate Agent chains - to see what you could tell about an area simply by driving through it.
It seems you can tell a great deal!
The quality of the shops in an area, for example, will always be in direct relation to the incomes of those who live or work there.
As such, I'm not confident we can expect too many fancy shops in the 'Shire (compared to our richer neighbours in Blackheath and Bexley.)
Just an observation.
I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the place...hope the ATM is still there and that they sort out the checkout queue system to eliminate the annoying 'is it one queue or two' dilemma.

OOOOOOOOOH THE JOY! I have clearly been away from this blog for much too long, I have just learned that a) plumstead is a toilet, b) reading about murders/rape/robbery what have you in the local papers is not only sensible it is the TRUTH (forget about my chum Jesus, negative press is King), c) you are a twat if you like plumstead instead of seeing it for what it is, a crime ridden latrine filled with devastation.
I is only able to say: WHATEVER, TAKE YOUR NEWS SHOPPER TRASH AND MOSEY ON!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Plumstead and I think it is a fantastic area. I am one minute away from a massive common, one minute away from the woods (I am fast, yes) and I could go on forever.
The dangerous people that make this 'a toilet' can't spell anyway, so frankly, who gives a damn? Get some dental work done first, then we can talk (writing undoubtedly is off the agenda)...
Sure there is crap going on, but Laaawd have mercy, this place is probably London's best kept secret and it has soo much going for it!
Bring on the Jazz and the pilates I say, and to all the anonymous fools, please do read up on the law of attraction...It might change your useless attitudes!
Big love to Plumstead and all the lovely residents with functioning brains in their skulls! The place is a blessing!
London's best kept secret. Some secrets are best kept in the closet.
Lawdy me.
Why don't you keep you and your pessimism in the closet and I'll stick a padlock on the door.
I agree with anonymous. Plumstead is unsightly and should be locked away.
And what exactly does Plumstead have going for it ?
As hard as I look I can not see anything except for the usual. A few shops a school and a common. Does that amount to Plumstead having a lot going for it ?
There is absolutely nowhere to go in the evenings. If you call a couple of tawdry pubs an evening out you are more dire than the usual Plumstead dweller.

Well for a start it's got a great blog that you seem to spend a hell of a lot of time on...but then my guess is that you are such a bundle of laughs and positive person that wifey and mates couldn't take anymore and you're all on your todd choking the chicken in front of your (probably stolen) pc.
Ooh, thanks for the vote of confidence in Plumsteadshire.
For a split second, I did think about adding Ad Sense to this blog. As my regular ranter (let's call him/her Victor), is such a frequent poster, I'd make a small fortune from him/her alone. As it happens, I abhor adverts on sites as it detracts from the chit chat about how the great majority of us really like our little patch of London. More importantly, it detracts from my quest for the best custard tart in Christendom.
It would be great to have a nice deli in Plumstead. Am a bit sick of people running the place down. We don't ALL want a cr*ppy 'giro supermarket'. I live in Plumstead by the common and have to go to Selfridges to buy my fave brand of tea ( Earl Grey by Williamson if you are wondering - you can get it in a nice elephant caddy.) Anyway, back to the point, Plumstead has some beautiful houses and lovely parks. If the transport links were a bit better, the area would be much more desirable. The shops are not a true reflection of the income bracket as all I buy in this area is a paper and a pint of milk from the local shop.
The co-op is looking a lot better though, I think it's in anticipation for the DLR in Woolwich :0) House prices in Lewisham went up a stack when the DLR went there, I think Plumstead's potential is yet to be realised.
