This is precisely we need around here, and the kind of entertainment enjoyed by loyal and decent residents of the shire. Hooray for the comedy and for Nick and the rugby club for successfully establishing these comedy nights. How wonderful to have such nice night out amongst other decent locals. Now if only The Ship could follow suit and put that venue to better use to properly serve the local community. Long live Plumsteadshire!
I have attended the comedy on many occasions, it is a great night out and a real mix of patrons attend and that is proof that this type of establishment does work. It is not full of the new Plumstead middle classes or full of chavs or full of middle aged pot bellied men but a real mix of ages and cultures and everyone drinks together, laughs together and generally has a good time. Now if it can work in a small hut in the middle of a rugby pitch, surely it can work in a pub.
Ahhh yes .... the venue where you are allowed outside drinking outside a school, where under-age drinking on the common is frequently witnessed when fully occupied, people wondering around with pint glasses across the entire length of the rugby pitch, empty cans, glass bottles scattered around the common (where kids loiter, away from adult supervision and drink themselves) .... this is precisely what you need around here ? Now I think a complete picture has been painted about what happens at that venue. Come on wake up .......
I dont think you have been in to the club house too much, i have been in several times for various events, lovely people always had great nights and full respect to all the guys who have to play on the common, amongst all the horrid stuff left behind, but please tell me you dont honestly believe that the guys in the club house dont tidy up after themselves, i mean do you seriously believe they dont walk the pitch checking for any sharp objects before they play, its a public place and any underage drinking i have ever witnessed, has occurred when the club is shut, i think i could guarantee that the bar staff who work there are not the types to be seling underage kids booze, maybe you should aim your remarks at the local off-licenes instead. Oh and lets not mention the moto cross kids who dont have a care in the world for anybody,
I am fuming at the comment we allow underage drinking this is not the case the positivly do not incourage it we have been appoached on many occasions to do 18th birthday partys we will not do them .We do not open when the school is open so this has no effect on school children .There is a local gruop of kids who drink and smoke on the common it is nothing to do with our club .We do not sell cans of beer so its not us .We are contasntly clearing up bottles glass dog mess and the like before we play on the pitch .Our building is constantly the target vandalism graffty last year we had £10,000 worth of damage done to the buliding luckilly the insurance paid .We have just put 100 tiles on the roof due to more vandalism . We try and keep an ordely house as we dont want to upset local people this is why we suport the one day cafe and the Plumstead common enviromental group .Our membership is on the whole the over 25s.If you have a beef with us directley aproach us and we will positively deal with complaints. If you wish to contact me directly please do so via our website. www.comedyonthecommon.com I would also like to thank the people that do support what we do Nick Secretary Greenwich Rugby Club
