Did you ever catch the doc on the destruction of Coventry through the war. The stories were really harrowing.
We owe a lot to that generation and it's bravery
Our house at the Herbert Road end of Shooters Hill celebrates it's centenary this year, but it almost didn't make it past WW2. The houses across from us were flattened by a bomb. This house lost all it's front windows, doors and the ceilings collapsed. Luckily the inhabitants were in the Anderson shelter in the garden and escaped unharmed. Sadly many of the people across the street were not so fortunate.
