jungle drums

Over the past couple of mornings, I've woken up to the sounds of jungle drums or some sort of repetitive beat. It sounds very distant, coming from Plumstead Manor School/Plumstead High Street direction.

First of all, I thought these were noises inside my head, a bit like writing a blog (talking but no-one listening, hearing drums but no-one playing. You get where I'm coming from?).

Anyway, I'm convinced there are distant drums noises, but why on earth at 5am? Is it an illegal rave happening in Plumstead Manor? Is it the long lost tribe of Temmesmead Marshes making communication with civilisation?

Yes, we heard it too on both Sunday and Monday morning - around 4am to 7am. Very difficult to tell where it's coming from and very annoying when you want a lay in over the bank holiday.

Thank god its not me hearing things...my hubby said it couldn't hear it!

I even went to the point of sticking my head out of my window, thinking it was a parked car, but could not see anything.

Maybe its the ship having a private "rave"!

Hi,

Sorry for this post I realise it has no releavance whatsoever to some bongos.

I took my son to the playground in the slade on friday afternoon when we left I noticed a very well dressed man leaving the gents loo's opposite. He looked extremly shifty and then jumped into his sports car. He was followed shortly by a young middle eastern looking guy.

I could be jumping to conclusions but I'm pretty sure some 'loving' had probably just occured in the slade.

I spoke to friend about this and he said that the Gentlemen loos are well known for that in the area...not sure how he knew but I didn't want to delve. Anyhow I wasn't aware and just thought that parents or anyone that didn't wanted to be faced with someone jacking off in front of them or soemthing else should be aware.

So I guess the moral of this story is go to the loo before you go to the park. Unless of course you like that sort of thing....

Hysterical Parent.

Perhaps from the Mill?

We live on Riverdale Road, about halfway up and heard it on both Sunday and Monday. Couldn't sleep, it was annoying.

I don't mind people having fun, we've all been there but the noise level was too loud for a residential area. We thought it poss may have been a party in the woods?

i didnt hear anything although sometimes i cant hear past the awful council people in their front gardens talking till all hours of the morning. I guess time is of no importance when you dont have to get up to go to work in the morning....

It wasn't the Mill, I was there on sat night, nothing but Miles Davis and chatting going on over there.

Miles Davis, what a surprise! What's the Mill like? Been in the area a few months now and not tried any of the local pubs yet?

If you like "real pubs" you will love it. Normally 5 or so real guest ales on tap and the bar staff really know the stuff. Don't be surprised if you order something and get a sharp intake of breath from one of the regulars and a whispered "it's turned a bit mate, try the old speckled camels hump, far better pint and the barrel was fresh on a few hours ago". The regulars are all in all superb folks, within a few weeks of popping in once a week I knew most of them.

The place is decorated in the popular "faded opulence style" in other words it hasn't been touched since 1973. The only food you can get are freshly made rolls, which will remind you of old school field trips and taste sublime.

But back to the point - did we get to the bottom of those drums?

I heard it was the stones after-show party at the o2 venue!

There were no Stones after show parties, they were all cancelled at the last minute.

I live on the middle of Flaxton Road and I heard it both nights, started about 3:30am each time and ended at about 6:00am. It was very, very odd indeed, the exact same beat played solidly for the entire 2.5 hours, it would waft in and out every few minutes and MC would kick in. The speed and rhythmn made my heart race, it was really weird indeed. Wherever it was it must of been deafening.
