petition against cars

Not petitioning against cars in general. I think I may have mentioned this online petition before. If so, then here goes again.

Sign here to rid the Common of illegally sold cars.

Don't know how it works, but I'm sure it's a bit more involved than signing and all will be jolly and gay. Well, we gotta start somewhere don't we?

Oi!

Those cars are an important part of what makes Plumstead special.

Take the dodgy car dealers and murderers away and what are we left with? It's our identity.

There have been illegally sold cars there since way before you turned up - leave em alone I say!

I'm off now to pick up litter on the common and gossip like an old woman about 'the ship.'

So how much do you want for the blue Nissan? Where did you nick it from in the first place?

get rid of the cars, and the scum that sell them dodgy motors!

I don't live on PCRoad, so I'm not especially aware of the problems that the Shires' answer to Boycie causes. I do use the Co-Op though and I think the recycling bins opposite are a massive problem. Did anyone else see the amount of s**t that was strewn around these on Saturday? Why don't the council separate these from the Common with a fence or wall? Surely the PC Environment Group have raised this as an issue with the Council previously? Does anyone know? I'm all for recycling, but the council need to manage these places correctly.

And maybe if some people didn't just dump their bags of rubbish outside the bins it wouldn't be such a problem. Sometimes it looks like someone's just slowed their car down to a moderate 56 mph and just chucked their week's rubbish in the vague general direction on the bins.

But that's the Council's fault too, I expcet....

oops, I meant expect....

Very fair point regarding personal responsibility, but given these bins sit in a conservation area, why can't they be fenced off from the common?

Incidentally, I saw a bloke taking old video recorders out of the pink (small appliances) recycling bin earlier today, and loading them into the boot of his car. Head first, up to his waist in the bin he was. Recycling in action. Only in Plumstead eh?

AJWinblack,
Don't be simple. Of course it's not the council's fault, but they have to take responsibility if idiots dump stuff on public land.

The PCEG have been lobbying for enforcement action at the links recycling site but we get the usual fine words and promises with no apparent action apart from a summary blitz clean. Photos are regularly taken and sent to various officers. We so badly need an efficient enforcement team. My latest question to council raises the idea of street wardens.

UNREAL :)

Just found an old forum post where some pratts from Plumstead were suggesting that an old shop should be reopened as.......a coffee shop!

Imagine that, a freaking coffee shop in Plumstead?

Who's gonna get their macbook out in full view of the locals?

If they want 'cafe culture' - MOVE TO BLACKHEATH OR GREENWICH! This place has some great people, but I would not take my laptop out in full view at my local greasy-spoon in Herbert Road, unless I actually wanted to be mugged.

Sad - but true...

....unless you know different?

You sad git. We know there's crime in Plumstead, but crime is everywhere, not just in Plumstead.

Why should the positive minded people in our area be dragged down to your level of thinking? Why shouldn't Plumstead have a coffee shop or two and try to be better than your doom and gloom view of the World?

It's the Miserable Anonymous man again isn't it.
I know his writing style now: lots of exclamation marks, calling people who try to improve the place they live 'prats' and generally being rather unpleasant. Why don't you go and bore someone else if you haven't got anything rational, positive or interesting to say here?
