Into The Woods

All was quiet in the deep dark woods, a fox saw a ........

I like to take the Toddler Panglosses [hmmm, that doesn't work. Pangloss Toddlers - they sound like farmers from a Pieter Bruegel painting but that's not such a bad thing].

Let's start again, I like to take the Pangloss Toddlers to the woods for a wander. Kicking up leaves, looking out for squirrels, finding pine cones, climbing over fallen trees and of course getting the all-important stick to aid our rambles. It's a really nice way to spend an afternoon.

We went to Oxleas Woods for an adventure and heard rustling. Fox? badger? Gruffalo?

You know when you turn round, see a person and they are acting really guilty? On more than one occasion, we have seen men acting very suspiciously, always walking away from us when spotted. Funny that. I think they were waiting for 'a friend' but we turned up instead; I think we put the willies up 'em.

I will say no more.

how gross. unless they are council men...as I drove past the other day, two of them seemed to be prodding the duck pond.

BTW...putting the willies up them....really such a funny phrase in the context of your post~!

A walk in the deep dark woods... I'm visualising Grimm Brothers fairytales and mysterious Rackhamesque illustrations, so might "The Toddlers Pangloss" work better as a collective noun in this instance?

Back to reality, it's disappointing that there are so many odd types about but don't let that put you off taking them on lovely walks that will inspire their creativity and imagination for years to come. Try Welling Open Space perhaps? It's not so off the beaten track and has a playground as well as a wooded walkway.

Please visit the local surgery at Glyndon Community Centre on Friday July 23rd 2010 to voice your concern about the recent spate of arson attacks on Plumstead Common.

Poster link here - please feel free to print this out!

the local neighbourhood watch have just reported that two people were recently arrested for offences against public decency, you might not have to put the willies up any mysterious woodland dwellers for the foreseeable future...

I've been walking in Oxleas wood every morning and every night for almost 15 years I have never seen any strange men, apart from the 'Care in the Community' Man who stood by the Water Board building down by the reservoir below the cafe and kept swearing whilst swigging beer but his been gone for a few years now . Come to think of it may be its me?
